I was at the local thrift store the other day and saw some martini earrings. Ive never had a real martini. The earrings reminded me of the Roaring 20s and the flappers with their cigarette holders and martinis in hand. So here is my Flapper box. I bought the earrings for embellishments. The embroidery turned out to be a bit dense in their little faces but I like the girls. I especially like the one with the martini on the table. That's where I put one of the earrings.

A few years ago my women's club had a girls weekend away with a flapper theme. We all dressed in flapper dresses with lots of fringe, had long cigarette holders with candy cigarettes, wore garters and headbands. We drank white wine instead of martinis because no one knew how to make them. I had a hip flask that I filled with wine. Here's a picture of me as a flapper:

Anyway, the box was made with a great line of paper from Graphic 45 along with some fun buttons I found online. This set reminds me that no matter how much time has gone by, girls are pretty much the same - we just wanna have fun.

Specifics

The top of the box has several flapper tags and embellishments including 2 adorable flapper buttons. There is a glittery silver frame from which a little flapper is peeking out. The tag in the corner says, "Girls just wanna have Fun." Inside is a 1920s couple dancing and a tag that says, "Some things never change."

Scissors Sheath: 3.25" x 5" The scissors sheath has a dancing flapper in a black dress with a royal blue boa and headband.

Pincushion: 3.25" x 3.25" This flapper is taking a break from the dancing by sipping a pink martini. She's wearing a silver dress with a red boa and has a purple headband with a red feather. It has a golden needle for good luck.

Needle book: 3" x 5" The flapper on the needle book is dancing so enthusiastically, her long strand of pearls are flying! She is wearing a purple dress and copper colored bangles. The needle book has 2 pockets on the inside in which to tuck your needle packets, seam ripper or other 12pt items.

Thimble Box: 1.25" high x 1" in diameter The thimble box has a pink martini on the top.

Bonus: Bonus items include a thimble, a tape measure shaped like a house and a pair of snips in the scissors sheath.
